Daughter of Rick Bohaty, IT Relationship Manager for St. Elizabeth, St. Mary's, Good Samaritan, and St. Francis; and Renee Bohaty, teacher at Culler Middle School, Lincoln Public Schools.

Hailey Bohaty came into our lives when she was four months old. We fell instantly in love with the little girl in the bouncy stroller, wild hair, and binky in her mouth, just bouncing away without a care in the world. When Hailey noticed us walking in the room, she scooted across the floor to us as fast as she could. This magical moment was the start of the Rick, Renee, and Hailey Bohaty family.

As a child Hailey was active in dance, sports, theater and many other activities. Hailey was an accomplished gymnast, a passionate volleyball player, a spirited softball player, as well as a stand out high school sprinter.

More than just an athlete, Hailey’s spirit and heart made her a strong advocate for anyone who needed help or was considered an underdog by others. Hailey had a great gift for making friends and never met a stranger.

Hailey always wanted to help people and being an organ donor was very important to her. Hailey just renewed her driver’s license this past February and when handed her license she turned it over immediately and stated “YES, They had mistakenly not checked my donor box on my last license. This license is very good. If something bad happens to me I know that something good can happen for someone else.”

In short, Hailey Bohaty is one of the most spectacular people that walked this earth, whose time was cut far too short. She lived a fierce life full of caring for all people no matter their story. Hailey’s light will be carried on through others. Hailey's favorite movie character was Harry Potter. She related to this underdog, Harry Potter, who was willing to sacrifice everything to help others. Hailey’s first tattoo, which was the word Lumos, is Latin for light. “Lumos maxima”, which means Great Light, was a line in the movie. It perfectly describes how Hailey’s life was and will continue to be a “Great Light” for all of us.

Sincerely,

Rick & Renee Bohaty
